Montreal Forum Guidelines
First, by all means include in your post a copy of any message to which you are replying. But please trim excessively large numbers of earlier messages (and repetitious Yahoo admin or advertising text) from the end of your post! Single-line responses followed by repetitions of all previous messages in the same thread consume our archive space, waste members' time and bandwidth, and make the daily digests very cumbersome indeed. Do not include in your post earlier messages from other threads that are irrelevant to it!
Second, since the purpose of the forum is to share information among Montreal owners, please give actual details of suppliers, service providers, etc, when reporting good (and bad!) experiences.
Third, if you post about technical problems, please give full details of the symptoms and what solutions you have already tried. And please give feedback to those who take the time and trouble to make suggestions when the problem is finally solved! Such feedback encourages people to respond to questions in the future and is very useful information for everybody.
Fourth, if you are catching up with a thread, do read all the latest messages on the topic before posting your own contribution. Otherwise you may find that you are just repeating what has already been said.
Fifth, since not all members have broadband internet connections, please adjust the resolution of image attachments to suit the material! For most purposes, appropriate sizing and jpg compression will give an excellent rendering with a file size of under 250 KBytes. Higher resolution files can always be emailed directly to any member who requests them.
Sixth, the language of the forum is English as this is widely understood by the members in the European countries, Canada, the USA, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand. Members who can't write in English are welcome to post in their native language but are asked to append at least a machine translation (AltaVista, InterTran, WorldLingo, etc.) to English for the benefit of others. Please don't post the machine translation alone, without the native text! The original will be appreciated by those who do share your language and is needed to give some clues for the decryption of the machine translation by the other members.
Seventh, on this forum please identify yourself by your real name (not a cybername like "MontiDriver") and, to allow other members to see you, send a photo of yourself for the Montreal owners' gallery!
Eighth, do not post your messages in ALL CAPS!
Finally, note that the Montreal Website is an information resource that I maintain and provide free of charge from a paid commercial server for the personal information of the owners of these cars. It is not intended as a source of income for people submitting articles to car magazines, club newsletters or other publications.
The Montreal Website states clearly: "Webmasters are welcome to link to this website at http://www.alfamontreal.info/ from other appropriate web pages. The copying of images or text (original or translated) from this website to publications, other media, bulletin boards or web servers, and linking to individual frames or sub-pages, is not authorised."
The Montreal Forum is a no-flame, no-spam discussion group and membership is open to all. I reserve the right to unsubscribe, ban or suspend the posting privileges of any member who does not respect these guidelines, who makes posts of an impolite, facetious or deceptive nature, who uses offensive or abusive language or defamatory innuendo, or who fails to respect the intellectual property rights of third parties, or copies material posted to the forum to other publications, websites, bulletin boards or third parties without permission.
Thank you for your co-operation!
