My love for the Montreal started when I was just a boy. So when I was 15 I immediately recognized one, parked under the house in which I lived in Terni, a small town in the centre of Italy. The car went right to my heart - I can still remember the emotions I felt while staring at its eyelids, although they were in the rest position.
Many years later, the August 2001 edition of the Italian car magazine Automobilismo dedicated some pages to the Montreal and that revived this love with even more passion. I started to look for one after my wife Licia and I bought our house in 2005. Then, from July 2006, I started to search in the wide territory accessible via the internet. Within a few months I had listed dozens of ads for Montreals, and after a while a name appeared in my mind: "Lei" (meaning "she" in Italian); this would become my Montreal's name. I managed to inspect about ten Montis (and tested most of them) but by the end of the search I had listed more than 80 ads!!!
How did I find Lei? In late 2007 a member of the AlfaSport.net forum noticed a Montreal for sale in the North of Italy. I asked him and a couple of other forum friends (one of whom already had a Montreal) to arrange a visit to test the car and.. in two days they had done the trick!! They tested the car and also fixed the selling price, which was really a bargain considering the car's condition! I only had to raise the phone and make a call to buy the car... I'll always be thankful to RiccardoBiscione73, Mara and Ezio.
The funniest thing is that they are still thanking me, because I gave them the opportunity to be involved in a Monti story! My thanks are also due to Marco Soldano and Christian Giusti, who helped me during the years of searching with tips and advice and, obviously, to my wife Licia who is also deeply involved in this love story.
